What is the difference between Yakult® and Yakult Ace Light®?

Every bottle of Yakult contains at least 10 billion of  L. paracasei strain Shirota. Yakult Ace Light® is a lighter version of Yakult Original. It contains 30% less sugar and 30% fewer calories, yet with 30 billion L. paracasei strain Shirota. Yakult Ace Light® provides a boost of good bacteria for people who need more probiotics in their digestive system.

What is the difference between Yakult and Yakult Light®?

Yakult Light® comes with a lighter taste and is fortified with Vitamin D which is essential for maintaining healthy bones and teeth . Both Yakult and Yakult Light® contain at least 10 billion of live probiotic L. paracasei strain Shirota which has been scientifically proven to help maintain a healthy digestive system.

What is the difference between Yakult Light® and Yakult Ace Light®?

Yakult Light® and Yakult Ace Light® come with different quantity of probiotic and bottle size. Yakult Light® contains 10 billion L. paracasei strain Shirota per bottle (100ml), while Yakult Ace Light® contains 30 billion L. paracasei strain Shirota per bottle (80ml). Both Yakult Light® and Yakult Ace Light® have the same citrus taste. Both have been endorsed with a Healthier Choice Symbol (HCS) by Health Promotion Board.

Where can I purchase Yakult Light®?

Yakult Light is sold exclusively by Yakult Home Delivery, and distributed to selected schools and hospitals. Currently, it is not available in supermarkets or provision shops.

How should Yakult be stored and can it be kept at room temperature?

It is advisable to store Yakult in a refrigerator between 5-10°C. However, Yakult will not spoil within a few hours at room temperature. Just remember to keep them in the refrigerator as soon as you can. 

What is the sediment in the bottom of Yakult bottle?

 The sediment at the bottom of Yakult bottle is non-fat milk solids. We recommend you give your bottle a shake before drinking.

Did Yakult change its probiotic?

Scientists have been discovering more and more bacteria through research. In order to differentiate the bacteria more specifically, important bacteria, including LcS, have been renamed in order for better differentiation with other bacteria. Therefore, Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota has been reclassified as Lacticaseibacillus paracasei strain Shirota by the scientists.

Does Yakult have any side effects?

No. Yakult is a functional food and not a medicine. Thus, it does not produce any side effects. Yakult has a record of product safety for more than 80 years. In fact, the strong probiotic, L. paracasei strain Shirota in Yakult helps to increase the number of good bacteria and decrease the harmful bacteria in the intestines. This helps to promote a healthy digestive system.

Will drinking Yakult cause phlegm or cough?

No. Drinking Yakult ​will not cause phlegm or cough. However, if you have been advised by your doctor not to consume cold drinks, we we suggest that you take out Yakult from the refrigerator and leave it to stand for 15 – 20 minutes at room temperature before consuming it.​

Is Yakult suitable for a diabetic?

There are many types of diabetes and the treatment varies according to the condition of each patient.  Thus, it is advisable for a person with diabetes to consult his doctor before drinking Yakult.

Does Yakult contain cholesterol or fats?

No. Yakult is fat and cholesterol free because it is made of skim milk.

Are there any preservatives in Yakult?

No. The product is preserved naturally by the lactic acid produced by the bacteria, L. paracasei strain Shirota during fermentation. 

Can I drink Yakult if I am lactose intolerance?
Yakult is a fermented dairy product containing small amount of naturally-occurring milk sugar (lactose). Lactose intolerant individuals who may safely consume yoghurt, may also enjoy Yakult. If you are uncertain about your reaction to dairy, we recommend you to discuss this with your dietitian before trying.
Is Yakult suitable for vegetarian?

There are many types of vegetarian. Yakult contains skim milk but no other animal products. It is suitable for vegetarians who are able to consume milk-based products such as milk, cheese and yoghurt.

Can a pregnant woman drink Yakult?

A pregnant woman can consume Yakult as it contains natural ingredients such as skim milk and glucose, etc. In addition, Yakult helps to increase the number of good bacteria and suppress the harmful bacteria in the intestines.  Thus, Yakult helps to maintain a healthy digestive system.
